Our Programs

At Canine Miracles for Heroes, our programs are built around one goal: helping veterans and emergency personnel living with PTSD regain confidence, independence, and hope. Each program is thoughtfully designed to meet Heroes where they are: emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Service Dog Placement Program

This is the heart of our mission.

We train and place fully trained service dogs with military veterans and emergency personnel who are living with the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder and trauma. These dogs are carefully selected and trained to provide grounding, emotional regulation, and practical support in daily life.

A trained service dog can help a Hero:

  • Feel safer in public spaces

  • Regain independence and confidence

  • Navigate anxiety, panic, and hypervigilance

  • Build routines and emotional stability

Each placement represents months of training, care, and commitment—made possible through the support of donors, volunteers, and sponsors.

Owner-Trained Dog Support Program

Not every Hero starts their journey with a new dog.

For veterans and emergency personnel who already have a dog they’ve bonded with, we offer professional guidance to help build essential service dog skills. Our trainer works directly with the Hero and their dog to establish foundational behaviors and task work suited to their individual needs.

This program allows Heroes to:

  • Continue working with a trusted companion

  • Receive expert training support

  • Build service dog skills at a sustainable pace

It’s a meaningful option for those who already have a strong human–dog bond and want to grow it into a working partnership.

Education, Advocacy & Community Involvement

Education and advocacy are essential to creating lasting impact.

This program focuses on increasing awareness around service dogs, public access rights, and the unique challenges faced by veterans and emergency personnel living with PTSD. We work within the community to promote understanding, reduce stigma, and encourage meaningful involvement.

There are many ways to participate, including:

  • Volunteering (fostering, events, committees, fundraising)

  • Community education and outreach

  • Advocacy for service dog awareness and access

Strong community involvement allows our mission to grow beyond individual placements and into lasting, shared impact.

Mental Health Faith-Based Program

Healing looks different for every Hero.

Our faith-based mental health program offers trauma-sensitive support that integrates Christ-centered principles, scripture, prayer, and emotional wellness practices. This program is optional and designed to support those who find strength in faith as part of their healing journey.

The focus is on:

  • Emotional stability

  • Spiritual resilience

  • Compassionate, supportive guidance

This program complements our service dog work by addressing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

Supporting Heroes at Every Stage

No two journeys are the same. That’s why our programs are designed to offer support at every stage—whether a Hero is just beginning their journey, working with a bonded dog, or seeking emotional and spiritual restoration.

Every program is made possible by the generosity of our donors, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners.
